Public guided tour through the exhibition

From April 26 to October 26, 2025, the Spanish Tower Sculpture Garden will present the exhibition
TONY CRAGG
in Darmstadt's public space. The extensive oeuvre of the internationally renowned sculptor Tony Cragg includes not only sculptures but also drawings and installations. Always characterized by an intense exploration of natural forms and structures, his sculptures reference organic elements from nature.
Inspired from an early age, Tony Cragg developed a keen interest in the materials, forms, and structures of nature, its life cycle from creation through transformation processes to its demise. He translates these insights into new, abstract, yet uniquely recognizable forms. Repetitions and graphic studies play a central role in the creative process.
For the first time in Germany, ten of Tony Cragg's sculptures are being presented exclusively in public spaces. On a sculpture trail about 1.5 km long, starting with the over 6-meter-high double sculpture Points of View made of stainless steel on the plateau of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Mathildenhöhe in the west, continuing through the park area of Rosenhöhe, and ending with the fiberglass work Mean Average, which towers about 6 meters into the sky, in the Spanish Tower sculpture garden, Tony Cragg's works return to nature. In the Spanish Tower itself, the exhibition is complemented by smaller sculptures and drawings.
On Sunday, August 24, 2025, the Spanish Tower Sculpture Garden invites you to a public guided tour of the TONY CRAGG exhibition. Kristina Brozost will guide you through the exhibition for approximately 90 minutes. The tour starts at the plateau on Mathildenhöhe and ends at the Spanish Tower Sculpture Garden.
